What to Wear Wednesday: The Metallic Skirt

Once in a while you come across it: that PIECE. You have no idea what to do with it.

It’s. Way. Out. There.

But, nonetheless, you MUST HAVE IT! You’ll figure it out later, you say. And then, the days go by. The weeks turn into months, and the seasons into new seasons. It stares at you from the closet as if to say: “I’m heeeeeere! You booouuught me! You spent your hard earned saaalaaaryyyyyy and HA HA! Here I sit. Money in the garbage!”

Of course, you can’t get rid of it! One day you’ll wear it. One day indeed.

The metallic leather skirt I just saw is one such item. It seems SO OFF THE WALL! But really, when you look at it in its parts, it’s a very simple skirt:

1. It’s a pencil shape (classic)

2. It’s a soft nubuck leather (great for cooler months, and comes into style fairly often)

3. It’s in your colour palette.

Why not jump right in? Because it’s metallic. That’s why. It is definitely a statement-maker but it can also be a very useful piece, if you can just get creative about it.

Here’s a Trademark Tip: when you spot a faaaaabulous have-to-have, concentrate on finding its classic traits. Be it shape, colour or fabric, if an ‘outlier’ garment has something classic to its design, you can treat it as a neutral – and turn it into a surprising wardrobe workhorse!

Metallic Skirt Can Be a Wardrobe Workhorse

This metallic skirt may seem like an ‘outlier’ but by treating it as a neutral, it turns into a wardrobe workhorse!
